We weten inmiddels allemaal wat software asset management, of kortweg SAM, is\u00a0(zie anders onze blog \u201cWat is ITAM<\/a>\u201d)<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Echter, wat\u00a0<\/span>sommige\u00a0<\/span>van ons\u00a0<\/span>negeren is hoe je<\/span>\u00a0SAM\u00a0<\/span>practise\u00a0<\/span>kan<\/span>profiteren van\u00a0<\/span>het gebruik van technologie. Software asset management tools zijn\u00a0<\/span>essentieel<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>om waarde toe te voegen middels\u00a0<\/span>het beheren van de toenem<\/span>ende complexiteit\u00a0<\/span>van<\/span>lic<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>entie<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>metrics en<\/span>de consumptie<\/span>\u00a0van deze licenties (on-premise of in de cloud).<\/span><\/p>

Gartner definieert tools voor software asset management als producten die automatisering bieden ter ondersteuning van de taken die nodig zijn om te voldoen aan de gebruiksrechten van softwarelicenties. De tools bieden diepgaande gegevens die kunnen worden gebruikt voor allerlei soorten software-analyse. Dit kan gaan over waar en hoe de software in uw organisatie wordt ge\u00efmplementeerd, welke versie van de software, als deze deel uitmaakt van een bundel, de software virtueel of fysiek is en of de gebruiker het recht heeft om de software te gebruiken).<\/p>

SAM-tools kunnen volgens Gartner worden onderverdeeld in zeven afzonderlijke activiteiten:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
